Proven therapies for humans and animals

What is Cold Laser therapy?

Cold laser therapy, sometimes also referred to as low intensity laser therapy uses low level laser light directed at the skin ,

allowing the photon energy to penetrate tissue where it interacts with various intercellular bio-molecules to help restore

normal cell function and stimulate the body’s natural healing process.  It is a painless, sterile, non-invasive, drug free

treatment which is used to treat a variety of pain syndromes, injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions and pathologies.  It is particularly useful when conventional therapies have been ineffective, or when the acceleration of healing from injuries is needed.

What does Cold laser therapy do?

All light has an effect on the cells of the human body. What that effect is shall be determined by the wavelengths of light applied. The low intensity laser produces a beam of light that has a specific wavelength and frequency. When the light of the Laser is applied around the target area  the electromagnetic energy is converted to chemical energy within each cell which sets in motion a chain of chemical reactions allowing the healing process to begin.

Does it work?

Different clinical studies shows 86% success rate in reducing or eliminating pain.  While we cannot eliminate all types of pain, most musculoskeletal pain can be alleviated.

Is Cold laser therapy safe and are there any side effects?

Laser therapy has been successfully used around the world for over 25 years with no reports of significant or long-term side effects.  Most laser therapy systems have been cleared by the FDA and the BMA for the treatment of numerous conditions and have successfully been used in the treatment of chronic and acute pain, wounds, sports injuries, and more.  In fact, over 1500 published studies have shown that when used correctly; low intensity lasers are a safe, non-toxic and non-invasive therapy, free from negative side effects.

Is Cold laser painful?

No. Cold lasers do not generate perceivable heat. Therefore, when the laser contacts the skin the patient experiences no warmth or burning as a result of the laser. Most people feel nothing at all while a few may feel a slight tingling during the treatment. Following a laser therapy session, approximately 75-80% of patients being treated can notice an immediate improvement in their condition.  This will depend primarily on the type of condition and the length of time the condition has been present.

Is this a temporary fix to my problem?

The good news is for most patients that have completed a course of cold laser treatment the results have been sustainable. While some patients get immediate results, others may require several treatments before there is a lasting effect

What are the Contra-indications to Cold laser?

Even though laser produces physiological benefits, it's not for everyone. It's contraindicated during pregnancy because it may interfere with normal development of the foetus.  People with epilepsy, and those with mental disabilities and dementia aren't appropriate candidates for laser therapy.

My concerns might seem trivial and ridiculous: I don’t want to be embarrassed?

Gordon Farmer is a mature practitioner, familiar with all aspects of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. However, there still exists today a tendency among some people, especially men, to 'not want to talk about' a particular problem they may have.

This is where Gordon's maturity comes to the fore, and as well as being an experienced practitioner, he is a good listener, also a caring and understanding man. Never delay attention for a problem that may be more easily treated than you imagine.

I don’t see my problem mentioned here, what can I do?

If you are curious about having a particular problem investigated, phone, email or write to us for an open and honest opinion.
